Let’s be clear, smoothies aren’t just for breakfast anymore. Especially when you have the flavors of homemade chocolate banana shake.  Who doesn’t love a shake after a workout or as a little pick me up between meals?

AllWhites Egg WhitesAllWhites® Egg Whites asked me to recreate one of their recipes to share with you guys, and I knew I wanted to try and share their Carob Nut Protein Smoothie.  This recipe is perfectly balanced with lean proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats.  Making it an awesome way to jump start your metabolism in the morning or recover after a sweaty workout with over 20 grams of protein. I must confess I have made it my mid afternoon pick me up.

I left my crossfit class last week, drenched, exhausted and sore.  When I got home I threw this shake together and it hit the spot.  It filled me up and gave me the boost I needed.

Carob Nut Banana Protein Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup AllWhites® egg whites
  • 1 banana small, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 tablespoon dried carob powder
  • 2 tablespoons reduced fat peanut butter

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in blender. Cover and blend on medium speed until smooth. Serve immediately.

Notes

This recipe can easily be doubled.

    I totally agree! Smoothies are meant to be enjoyed throughout the day. And I would have never thought of adding egg whites to my smoothie. Sounds interesting! 🙂

    1. The egg whites just give you a little moe protein Erin, which is always a good ting for post workouts or jump starting your metabolisim in the morning.
