I usually make a protein shake before I head to the gym, I like to have it directly after my workout.

Here is the thing about my shakes. I typically make them with chocolate protein powder, but that is where the consistency ends. I like to add different ingredients and play around with flavors. Mostly I think so I don’t get bored and stop drinking them.

Lately most of my shakes have spinach, I find it is a great way to add some greens to my diet, and I really don’t think the spinach adds any flavor, so why not?

Then I add some kind of fruit. Since peaches are in season this time of year, I have been carving those up and throwing them into the shakes. But, now since Kroger has released their new Simple Truth Low Cow high protein ice cream, I have been adding it into my shakes. This shake may be my new favorite, AND yes, I will add spinach, but I didn’t add it to this recipe. I thought you all might freak out with that addition!

Is it a shake or is it a smoothie?  I am calling it a shake, but it is so packed with protein, you may want to call it a smoothie and enjoy it for your after workout recovery drink.

But, if you are looking for a cold dessert that is lower calorie and is guilt free, you can call it a shake.  Whatever you call it you will make it over and over. Thanks to Kroger Simple Truth New Low Cow Lite Ice Cream we can all enjoy dessert that has 80% less fat and 60% fewer calories than regular ice cream.

Don’t stop with just the chocolate flavor, there are five other flavors to try. I also tried the vanilla bean and sea salt caramel and they were both a great low calorie alternative to regular ice cream.
