How to Have Your Healthiest New Year

How to Have Your Healthiest New Year! The New Year is a time for resolutions and fresh starts. It’s a time to set goals and make plans to achieve them. If one of your resolutions is to have a healthier year, you’re in luck! I have some tips for you that will help you reach your goal. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to a healthy New Year!

All the tips on this list I practice and I believe they make me a happy and healthy person.  I hope you will give some if not all of them a try.  Being healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet, so make the commitment and get started.  Here is to having the best New Year possible!

How to Have Your Healthiest New Year

  1. Drink water lots and lots of water.  Try to drink as many ounces of water as your body weight. I also try and drink an 8 ounce glass of water before my coffee or I eat my breakfast.
  2. Eat out of the refrigerator not your pantry. Shop perimeter of your grocery store (stay out of isles)
  3. Remove granulated sugar and sugar substitutes from your diet. When I did this I felt better and had more lasting energy.
  4. Make a bucket list. Put things on that are attainable but will stretch you out of your comfort zone.
  5. Go to bed! Try to get 8 hours of sleep.  I know it is hard, but try.
  6. Learn something new (take an evening class, on-line course, learn a new hobby)
  7. Move more, every step counts.  Take the stairs, walk your cart back into the store instead of leaving it in corral, park your car far away from the entrance of the store.
  8. Give back, volunteer your time. This will engage you with people you wouldn’t meet otherwise expanding your thought patterns and make you feel good about yourself.
  9. Explore your city. Once a month do something that allows you to see your city. Do this with a friend to make it more enjoyable and guarantee you will follow through
  10. Tell someone you love them everyday giving love away means you will get it back
  11. Get rid of the negativity. Stop saying I can’t, if you say I can’t, you won’t. Give yourself an opportunity to amaze yourself.

Happy New Year!

By incorporating these tips into your life, you’ll be on your way to having your healthiest New Year yet!

Start now and reap the benefits all year long! Best of luck in reaching your goals! Happy New Year!

Love these! I’m going to work on #1, 6, 7 this year definitely! I’ve already stopped (well mostly except for canned goods, flour, and oats) shopping down aisles and will be starting my veg garden this spring. But I’ve started to realize that I’m not drinking as much water as I should be! I’ve pinned this list to refer back to during the year, happy new year!

Thanks Emily, and yep eating out of the ol’ fridge pretty much guarantees the freshest foods. Happy New Year!

Love these tips! I’m definitely trying to get healthier in the New Year, and I know I need to start doing that by drinking a lot more water. Sometimes I get so busy with work that I forget to drink water. It’s terrible! Also I just moved to Denver and I definitely need to explore and learn my city more!

Drink the H20 Cat (I am saying this to myself too). I have lived in Cincinnati for 20 years and there is so much that I haven’t seen. I have made a monthly date with a girlfriend to spend the day exploring a new part. Should be fun and interesting!

  5. Excellent tips! I do most of these but I definitely want to get to know my city more. Moved her almost 2 years ago and still don’t feel connected. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Great tips! I definitely don’t drink enough water–that’s a big goal of mine for this year. My husband and I are trying to incorporate more healthy habits in 2015: we just got a few pieces of gym equipment for our home gym, and it’s been so fun working out together!

They say the couple that works out together, stays together…. not really but I tell my husband that. 🙂 Happy New Year!
