I Have a Foodie Pen Pal

by Amy Stafford on June 30, 2012

Last month I followed a few internet threads from one place to another and ended up on The Lean Green Bean blog.  Lindsay who is the author of the site is studying to be a dietician and has put together an amazing blog about food and exercise.  You must go and check out this blog, its pretty amazing.  While I was there I noticed that she organizes a Foodie Pen Pal.  Basically you submit your name and she places you on a list and you get a Pal and a Pal gets you.

Here is the gist of how it works:

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

I signed up and sent my package, my pen pal will write about what she received from me and post it on her blog and I will do the same.

Tiffani got me as her Pal, her blog ‘Lifes a Blog  is about a young single girl living her life in Charleston, SC with a love for history, shopping, cooking, traveling, and fun times with friends…follow me during my crazy times…because sometimes…Lifes-A-Blog!!

After a few emails back and forth Tiffani’s packaged arrived.  Inside I found a few of Charleston specials, like a bottle of American Classic Tea, Plantation herb rice mix,  homemade brownie from Ann’s Sourdough Bread and bees r us honey.  Tiffani also sent me a few of her favorites, Honey Roasted Peanuts, and a strawberry Soy Joy bar.

If you are interested anyone can participate in the Foodie Pen Pal, you don’t even have to be a blogger.  Just contact Lidsay and she will sign you up.

I really hope you liked everything. The orange “candies” are dried apricots! Lol! So delicious! I had fun picking out things for you.
