Place potatoes and garlic in a Dutch oven; add water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook, uncovered for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Drain; return potatoes to pan. Mash potatoes till chunky consistency.

Stir in cheese, milk, salt, and fresh herbs.
