Watermelon Feta Blackberry Skewers are the perfect easy patriotic fresh and healthy appetizer recipe | ahealthylifeforme.comIt is Red, White and Blue time.  You know what that means!

The 4th of July. Fireworks. Patriots. Sparklers. Cookouts. Picnics. S’mores.Parades. Beach Towels. Flag.  Betsy Ross who sewed the flag {maybe she will be the lady they put on the new $10 bill?}. She was quite the seamstress after all. Hotdogs. Hamburgers. Friends. Family.

Life, liberty and justice for all. That’s what it’s all about, here in the beautiful United States of America!!!

Well, and food.  Us Americans, we love our food, and boy do we like to get together on the 4th of July and eat.  Make sure you are in charge of bringing an appetizer to the party and make up a big ol’ batch of these ADORABLE watermelon, feta and blackberry skewers.

They will lead you to a sparkling fourth, a bit sweet, a bit salty and a lot healthy.  What is not to love?

Now you can much on those burgers, corn on the cob and enjoy a s’more or two, but no more than two.  We gotta keep healthy ya’ know.

What big plans do you have for the fourth?  We are doing a cookout, with friends.  Hope you guys have a blast this 4th {he-he}, so dorky, and keep it safe!

I love these little bites! I make something similar with mango instead of watermelon and they are my favorite little snacks for summer parties. I need to try the watermelon next time for a refreshing treat!

Thanks Ashley, I was just looking at the mangos at the store today. I need to bring some home and do some experimenting while they are in season.

Oh, what a refreshing appetizer for a summer party. With all of the balsamic and oil olive stores opening, I’m sure a sweet balsamic drizzle would go perfectly with these skewers. Thank you for sharing a healthy option for summer picnics.

I almost made this recipe with a balsamic glaze, but decided against it at the last minute. I am sure it would be perfect on these skewers.

      Hi Kelly,
Yes you should be okay as long as your watermelon is not over ripe.

Is there another fruit you can suggest if blackberries are not in season? Raspberries???

Hi Kelley, Raspberries are a little too soft. You could go with blueberries, or peach slices would work nicely.

For watermelon skewers, All feta is not the made the same. We tried a Bulgarian goat & it crumbled. Would recommend a double cream
