Habits of Fit and Healthy People

13 Junby Amy4

Do you know people who seem to effortlessly maintain a fit physique? It is not effortless, but fit people tend to adhere to several common practices that give their metabolism and physique an extra boost.  I have come up with Habits of Fit and Healthy People to give us all a boost to finding our fittest and healthiest selves.

If you believe

~Fit people are continuously educating themselves on nutrition and exercise. Like reading this blog…hint, hint.

~Fit people perform inside and outside chores themselves rather than hiring these tasks out or neglecting them all together. This means they tend to maintain tidy homes and yards. Vacuuming can burn 238 calories an hour and push mowing the lawn can but 408 calories an hour.

~The body is constantly adapting the forces we impose on it. If we do the same exercise everyday we will plateau and it will show in our results. Those fit peeps mix up their workouts; different types of exercise make you stronger, fitter and balanced. I attended my first cross fit class on Tuesday and did a Barre class on Wednesday.   Two completely different types of exercise with different goals.

~Fit people eat for their future not for the latest fad diet so they can make short-term goals. Eating for your overall health and maintaining an ideal weight is about sustainability and living with the healthiest body.

~Exercise in the morning.   Many people find too many diversions and excuses to not fit in your workout as the day progresses. Fit people get it done in the morning and stick with that routine.

~Water, water, water, when you exercise you sweat and you can get cramps or injuries. People who work out regularly drink a lot of water, typically half of your body weight in ounces. Consuming enough water each day helps to fight fatigue and dehydration, which among other symptoms causes you to believe you need to eat when you really need liquid intake.

~Getting enough zzz’s is the most underrated, yet important beauty and health secret. Snoozing is the only way to allow your muscles to repair after a workout and give you enough energy to work out to the best of your ability. It’s also critical for a strong immune system, a healthy metabolism, and anti-aging. Plus, sleeping has also shown to help curb unnecessary cravings and decrease appetite.

~Forgive yourself. So you miss a workout, or you have those chips and salsa with that margarita. It’s about balance, don’t beat yourself up over it, enjoy the moment and get back to eating healthy and that workout routine ASAP.

    Great tips!

I was working out in the morning. However, I got behind with my writing and needed that time to play catch up. I could use more house in the day. I’m already getting up super early and by the time afternoon rolls around, I’m drained. Hopefully, after June 30th, I’ll be able to get back on track. I miss my routine!

      Amandah,
I do most of my writing for my blog in the morning, answering emails, etc. and some days I just want to stay at the computer and get it all done (not that it ever really is done) and skip my workout, so I hear you. Hope you get back on track after you are all caught up! Amy
