I have a few new obsession for the spring time.

My first obsession is smoothie bowls. Besides the obvious fact that you get to eat your smoothie with a spoon, which come on, reminds me an awful lot like eating a bowl of melting ice cream.  Which if you look at my topping choices, totally reflects my love of ice cream sundaes.  Chocolate, Banana and Nuts, and of course chocolate sauce.

But of course the smoothie bowl must offer lots of healthy good for you ingredients, hence my new obsession with an old thing, spinach.

Yes, you read that right, spinach, my second spring obsession.  I don’t know what it is!  Could be all the Kale we have been eating, but spinach is my jam right now.  I love to sneak a bit in where ever I can.  And yes you can add spinach to almost every damn smoothie recipe out there.  I really doesn’t change the flavor, but you get all those healthy fabulous benefits of eating like Popeye!  Big healthy muscles! If you think about it, most people who eat and drink smoothies do it because they want to be mean lean fighting machines with killer muscles.  And well spinach helps with all that.

Lastly, my third obsession this spring is Targets new clothing collection from Who What Wear.  The cutest stuff!  I got two dresses, a romper and a fun white lacy top that will look great with jeans or slacks.  I actually picked up five fun summer dresses at Target that I will wear the heck out of all summer long, and of course they were all at prices that made me very happy indeed.  Go check it out, but only after you make this awesome smoothie bowl.

Why you want to make this Mocha Banana Superfood Smoothie Bowl.

Not only do you get your spinach in this recipe, but you get your banana which is loaded with potassium, and your chia seeds which are a great source of Omega-3’s which help with inflammation. Then I used a bit of espresso to liven things up.

Mocha Banana Superfood Smoothie Bowl

You need to start your day with this Mocha Banana Superfood Smoothie Bowl. It is packed full of superfoods to give you everything you need to soldier through your day like a champ. Gluten free, Dairy free, Vegan and Vegetarian.
Ingredients
  • [br][b]Smoothie bowl:[/b]
  • 1 fresh or frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 1 scoop protein powder,{25g} SunWarrior Mocha Organic Protein Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • Fresh ice
  • [br][b]Topping:[/b]
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sliced almonds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
  • [br][b]Chocolate Drizzle: {optional}[/b]
  • 1 teaspoon dairy free semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Instructions
[br][b]Smoothie bowl:[/b]
  1. Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. The smoothie will be fairly thick.
  2. Pour into a small bowl.
  3. Layer your toppings how ever you like.
[br][b]Chocolate Drizzle:[/b]
  1. Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a small bowl and microwave for 1 minute, remove stir and microwave an additional 30 seconds. Stir until blended and completely melted.
  2. Drizzle over smoothie.
  3. Enjoy.

    I have been loving smoothie bowls lately, and this one looks amazing! 🙂 And I love sneaking in spinach and greens everywhere that I can too! It is so easy to slip a handful of spinach or kale into a smoothie bowl or smoothie and get some extra good stuff in there.

    My daughter and I have been on a smoothie bowl kick lately and we love adding spinach to ours too. I love the mocha flavor here, definitely need to make this one soon.

      Thanks Joanie. I like adding the mocha and coffee flavors to any smoothie I make that contains bananas. Not sure why but the flavor combo makes me a happy girl.
