Cookies and Cream Protein Smoothie may be heaven in a glass. A little bit of chocolate, chia seeds, cinnamon and a whole lot of protein makes this a great breakfast, or meal on the go.
So if you are a regular around here you may know that I am a confessed non-morning person and that I am married to a happy, let’s turn on all the lights, and talk in the morning person.
After 24 years, I think he is starting to get it. No matter how happy and sweet and happy he is, I will not be until I have my coffee and something to eat, and about 30 minutes sitting upright. Then I am as happy, let’s turn on the lights and talk kind of person as he is.
Because of my morning phobia making breakfast needs to be simple, take less than a few minutes to prepare and be less than three steps. As I like to call it…a non-morning person kind of breakfast.
Welcome the smoothie, my morning breakfast of choice for all of us non-morning peeps.
I typically fill my blender bottle with protein powder, and the extra ingredients minus the water or milk and stick in the fridge before I go to bed. Thus eliminating this pesky step during my bleary-eyed morning.
Because I have to drink so many smoothies, due to my morning issues, I am always trying to come up with new and delicious recipes.
I got a sample of cookies and cream protein and couldn’t wait to try it out with some banana, chia seeds, and coconut milk. Wowza is this recipe good, like really, really, knock your socks off good. I hope you give it a try!
Before you go I wanted to share a story with you about my friends Jenni, Brandy, and Bennie. Jenni and Brandy are food bloggers who I have met through our love of food and eating. Jenni is a foster momma to kittens and cats in her area and she loves to share pics and stories on facebook and Instagram. One kitten that she fostered caught all of our attention because of her tiny, growly and fierce personality and became a fan favorite.
Weighing in at 1.5 pounds when Jenni found Bennie, lying in a pool of blood on the road, she barely got her to the emergency vet in time. The head injury she sustained as a kitten stunted her growth, and at almost 2 years old, she weighs in at a whopping 4.5 pounds.
When it was time for Jen to find a forever home for Benz, we were all a little sad to see her go, that was until Brandy decided to adopt Bennie and we knew we would continue to get updates on all of Bennies grumpy behavior.
Sadly recently Bennie Boo has gotten very sick. Bennie is battling a systemic infection of some sort, the symptoms of which include dangerously low body temperature, high white blood cell count, low blood pressure and more. She is currently in the ICU at the VCA Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. Benz is receiving excellent care, but emergency veterinary care is not cheap, and Brandy’s bills are mounting.
Jenni sent out a call for help to raise funds, so Brandy doesn’t become a homeless food blogger. 🙂

- 1/3 cup of cookies and cream whey protein powder
- 1 banana
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk
- 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
- Add all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into glass.
- Place topping ingredients in a glass bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir to blend until smooth.
- Drizzle over top of smoothie
