I think I had my first open-faced sandwich in Italy at a small cafe in Rome. Sounds so romantic doesn’t it?

It was, I was with my hubby walking the streets and we both had terrible jet lag, but we dare not sit down, trying to see and do as much as we could in the short time we had in such a beautiful city.

We walked past this little cafe with cute little tables and umbrellas out front and we thought to stop and refuel with an espresso. However, when I walked in and got to smell the delicious aromas I knew we had to have a little bite to eat. The waiter could not speak English and our Italian was a few words, we tried to say we wanted a menu but he just nodded a few times and walked away. Soon after out came two sandwiches and our espressos. Each sandwich had an egg on top and the first bite was heaven.

This Ham, Egg, Blackberry Sandwich is reminiscent to that sandwich we enjoyed in Italy.   Simple to make, delicious and you can enjoy it for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with or without the espresso. I used Hormel Natural Choice Honey Deli Ham meat in my sandwich.

I will only serve deli meat to my family that is all natural with no added chemicals. I can feel confident that I am serving a natural product that has no preservatives and no nitrates/no nitrites, no added hormones. Which means I am serving my family and I the highest quality deli meat.
