Are you still recovering from all that Thanksgiving food?

I am totally recovering. I ate very, very well over the holiday.

We celebrated Thanksgiving twice this year. We celebrated Thanksgiving at home on Wednesday night with the full spread. We woke up on Thanksgiving to a gray, cold and drizzly day but we still bundled up and headed downtown to participate in the Turkey Trot 10K. I was cold all the way to my bones by the time we were done and couldn’t get home fast enough to a warm shower to thaw out.

We then headed to a friends house for Thanksgiving round two. They served up two turkey’s one cooked traditional style in the oven and the second turkey was cooked in a smoker.

Guys let me just tell both turkeys were delicious, BUT that smoked turkey was soo dang good. I highly recommend everyone cooking their turkey next year in a smoker.  I assure you I definitely will be smoking our turkey next year.

Pre. or Post Thanksgiving Mocktail.

Since we are post-Thanksgiving I know you, me, and everyone else is thinking of getting our healthy eating game back on track.

Of course, planning ahead is the key to any healthy diet so if you like to enjoy a fizzy flavored drink.

I want to suggest Sparkling Glogg.  A sparkling filtered water that is flavored with real fruit concentrate, honey, and herbs.

R.W. Knudsen Familyยฎ offers several different options of bottled fruit juices, vegetable juices, carbonated fruit juices and specialty items (including Recharge natural sports drinks). Why should you check them out?  Because they are exclusively fruit juice sweetened. That means none of those sweaters we are all trying to avoid only sweetness from fruit, vegetables, and honey.

WHY YOU WANT TO MAKE THIS FIZZY APPLE CIDER MOCKTAIL.

To make this delicious fall drink I used some fresh sage leaves, smashing them to release their oils and flavor and then adding some organic apple cider that I received from my neighbor who has a small apple orchard and generously shares his bounty. Any organic apple cider will do. I shake the cider, sage, and fresh ice together in a shaker to infuse the flavors together. Pour that over a glass filled with fresh ice and then top it off with some Sparkling Glogg and a sprinkling of freshly ground nutmeg.

Serve with a wedge of apple to make extra pretty and fun.

I bet the sage adds a nice aroma to the cider and glogg. Lately I’ve been noticing restaurants adding a stick of fresh rosemary to their ice water.

Herbs do make a nice addition to drinks. I need to try it in my ice cubes. Thanks for the tip.
