There is a local gourmet pizzeria that is in downtown Cincinnati that Jim and I head to sometimes on Friday night. It’s in an area of downtown that until recently you didn’t want to head to unless you were looking for trouble, but thankfully investors have started putting money into the area and a group of restaurants have opened up that have a great vibe. One restaurant only serves gourmet hotdogs, one only tacos and one only tapas and of course our pizza place.
They have a limited drink menu but two cocktails that I have tried and enjoyed were their Ja ja Gabor (which I will share here later) and their Flintstone Pushup.
This drink calls for Cointreau, which I didn’t have so I went to the spirits shop to find out that its an orange brandy and expensive. The gentlemen at the store assured me I could use triple sec, but if I wanted to make a top quality cocktail I should break the bank and buy a 5th of Cointreau for $34.99. Yep you heard me $34.99. The sucker that I am, I bought it because I only wanted the best for my followers! 😉 Oh yea, and me the one drinking it! 🙂
- 1 ounce Tito’s vodka
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce Chambord
- 1/2 ounce of lemon juice
- a umpf of sparkling water
When I took a pic of their menu so I could remember the ingredients the bartender raised a perfectly waxed eye brow at me, so I explained I had a blog and I wanted to share is incredibly delicious, cocktail. He studied me a moment, and replied, “I add a little sparkling water to add the umpf”.
I thanked him and added his umpf! Enjoy!
On a side note, the picture of the people on my coaster look like my parents and their friends. Creepy!!
