Fall temperatures arrived here in Cincinnati with full force. It was 80° on Tuesday and snowed on Saturday. If you live here we always, say welcome to Cincinnati. We are known for our weather changing from one extreme to another over night.
With the change in the weather and the first of November coming and going, I am already thinking Thanksgiving. Growing up Thanksgiving was always at my Mom and Dad’s and me, my brothers, sister and their families would come over and my Mom would make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner from scratch. She stuck to the same menu year after year; turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole (with the onions of course) and dinner rolls. She always prepared an impressive spread and got compliment after compliment when the food was gone and the clean up began, so I am sure she saw no need to mix it up.
My husband’s family served a more diverse menu, his mother being Italian, there are always artichokes, roasted eggplant, sliced meats and cheeses along the turkey and stuffing. Another dish was the Brussels Sprouts. If you have been following me you know my husband LOVES Brussels Sprouts. If we go out to eat and he sees the Brussels Sprouts are being served he mentions it, orders them and then devours the whole plate. I on the other am not so much a fan. Though I have made progress in adding them to my diet and do enjoy a small plate when I make a dish at home. Part of the real reason I have started to cook them more and have started to enjoy eating them is that they are really good for us. Considered one of the powerhouse veggies to include into our diets for health benefits.

Amy, every year we go to the farm stand to secure produce for Thanksgiving. Typically we’ll see gorgeous brussels sprouts all beautiful on their stalks, but we’ve never picked them up. That will change this year, and with all the lovely recipes collected herein, one will likely end up on our holiday table. Pinned, and thanks for sharing!
